Vice President and ex-officio Chairperson of Rajya Sabha (RS), M. Venkaiah Naidu has rejected the impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, by the Congress Party and signed by 64 opposition MPs.
The petition does not suffice the conditions of 'proved misbehaviour' or 'incapacity' on the part of the judge, as stated in Article 124 (4) of the Constitution. The notice submitted by the opposition MPs mentions two cases and also levels the charge that CJI acted arbitrarily in allocating cases to brother judges as 'master of the roster.'
