Two passengers were killed and at least 15 injured when the private travels bus they were travelling in overturned on Srisailam ghat road in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident reportedly happened when the bus driver tried to take a turn at a high speed. While negotiating the curve, the bus first hit a temple by the roadside before overturning. There were about 40 passengers on board the ill fated bus. Luckily for them, the vehicle overturned on the hill side and not on the other side where there was a valley. It could have been a major tragedy had that happened, said a police officer.
The incident occurred at the Ramaiah curve in the ghat road about four to five kilometres from Srisailam temple town. The deceased were identified as B Vekataiah, 50, native of Gonipadu village in Kaikalur mandal of Krishna district, a daily wage labour, and Sekhar, 16, a Class X student of Khajapatnam village from the same mandal, who had completed his examination. The injured belonged to different villages in Kaikalur mandal of Krishna district, the polices said. After getting primary medical treatment at Srisailam temple hospital, they were all shifted to Guntur hospital.
