The Estimates Committee of A.P. Assembly will submit its report on the Polavaram project to the Assembly within one week, according to its Chairman Modugula Venugopala Reddy. He along with other members -- Somu Veerraju and Chikkala Ramachandra Rao -- visited the project site on Tuesday.
Later, speaking to the media, Mr. Venugopala Reddy said that the committee would suggest measures for cutting down the project cost and also give fact-finding report on irregularities in execution of the project.
Mr. Venugopala Reddy also said that the report would be tabled during the coming session for discussion. The committee would also inform the government about the funds required for speedy execution of the works. Mr. Reddy said that committee members discussed various issues related to the project. Engineer-in-Chief M. Venkateswara Rao, Chief Engineer Ramesh Babu and West Godavari Collector Katamaneni Bhaskar took part in the meeting held members of the committee.
Earlier, the committee members saw the model of the project at the Polavaram Project office and later the ongoing works.
