Questioning whether Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who had been crying foul over the shortcomings of the A.P. Reorganisation Act (APRA) tried to get it amended so as to protect the State’s interests, former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh described the protests by the TDP MPs as a drama.

Addressing mediapersons at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Sunday, Mr. Ramesh said Mr. Naidu could have got necessary changes made in the APRA but he did not do that for reasons to be explained and the BJP leaders too kept quiet as Narendra Modi backtracked on his promise to give the special category status (SCS).

Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu demanded on the floor of the Rajya Sabha that A.P. deserved to be given special status for 10 years but it also turned out to be a rhetoric.
