VISAKHAPATNAM: For the third consecutive year since its inception, Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam recorded 100 per cent summer placements with all the participating students of its third batch (PGP, 2017-19) getting paid internship offers from top companies. Among the 62 students in the batch, 61 received summer internship offers with stipends while one student opted for a research internship. The summer placement season for the third batch concluded on Feb. 9.
Summer placements for IIM V was a rolling process held on campus and culminated in internship offers for 49 students. The students also visited IIM Bangalore to participate in the summer placement process there during the first week of November 2017 resulting in 12 students securing internship offers.
Marketing (39%), Strategy (20%), Finance (13%), and Operations (18%) were the dominant roles offered to the students. Other roles include General Management (7%), and Product Management (3%).
As in the past, IIM-V attracted many government sector organisations. The Government of Andhra Pradesh recruited interns for their prestigious summer fellowship programme for the Commisionerate of Collegiate Education. NISG, incorporated by the Government of India and NASSCOM, recruited students for their e-governance initiative. Public sector undertaking HPCL recruited for their operations domain.
Commenting on the season, Professor Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Visakhapatnam, said, “IIM-V has seen high recruiter interest this year for summer internships due to the stellar job performance of its first batch as well as the good internship performance of the second batch resulting in many pre-placement offers. We look forward to the summer interns of the third batch contributing to the companies that recruited them and securing pre-placement offers.”
