Vijayawada: The State Government on Monday decided to transform Vijayawada city civil court complex to the AP interim High Court. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu came to this decision during an interaction with CRDA officials. Despite various efforts in identifying and pursuing different buildings, the state government finally zeroed in on the city civil court complex.
Post bifurcation, the establishment of the High Court for the state had been a long pending issue as Telangana was demanding a separate court. There were many political comments earlier that AP was intentionally blocking the matter. Recently on December 29, when the TRS raised the matter of separation of High Court in the Lok Sabha, Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said AP had agreed to separate it and was in search of buildings to establish its court. In fact, the state government intended to shift the High Court to a permanent structure but as the matter was getting delayed, it decided to go in for an interim one at the civil court.
MAUD minister P. Narayana said the government would establish high court buildings in 1.96 lakh sqft. Regarding notification for land pooling near the inner ring road and also about applying for acquisition for those who did not voluntarily give up lands, he said tenders would be invited.
