Amaravati : The UPSC has rejected the three of the 7 IPS officers sent by AP government for Director General of Police post. Central panel told the AP government it was against the spirit of the SC's judgement to choose IPSs who were on the verge of retirement for the position that has a fixed 2 year tenure. The officials asked to send a fresh list by excluding the names of in-charge DGP N Sambasiva Rao, senior IPS officers N V Ramana Murthy and M Malakondaiah as they will be retiring within one year. But, the AP government informed the Union Home Ministry that the list was prepared based on merit and seniority. But, the Home Ministry officials wrote a letter to the UPSC to cancel the meeting scheduled for new AP DGP selection on November 22. The Home Ministry made it clear to AP government to send a fresh list.
