President Kovind visits Swarna Bharat Trust in Nellore

President of India Ramnath Kovind, along with the first lady, participated in the 18th anniversary celebrations of Swarna Bharat Trust here on Friday, a non-governmental organisation launched by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu at Venkatachalam. The President flew down to Venkatachalam village in a special IAF helicopter from Chennai to the parade grounds and Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan, state ministers P Na-rayana, N Amarnath Reddy, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, District Collector R Mutyala Raju and others received the President and the First Lady on their arrival from Chennai at Nellore Police Parade grounds. 


The President observed some cultural programmes presented by students of IIIT, Nuziveedu who demonstrated a dance mixed with yoga with the theme of Vande Mataram. They also enthralled the audience with Namo Gange yoga dance and Kuchipudi dance by local girl. 


Ramnath Kovind visited Akshara Vidyalaya run by the Swarna Bharat Trust and interacted with students and attended a formal programme in the Trust premises. President Ramnath Kovind, who addressed the gathering at the Trust, who initially spoke in Telugu, appreciated efforts of the Trust for its outreach activities for serving the poor and the downtrodden. He read out the notes written to be expressed in Telugu for attracting the audience. 


“I am very much attracted by the environs of the school when I visited today and also inter-acted with the students. The Swarna Bharat Trust is doing excellent services to the society and it is essential that everybody has to spend some time for the underprivileged as was said by Mahatma and his saying ‘Back to the Villages’ is visible here and also inspired by Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh,” said the President Ramnath Kovind.
