TDP leader and former minister Paleti Ramarao and his followers were arrested on Tuesday in Chirala for inciting riots and disturbing the peace in Konijeti Chenethapuri Colony. Speaking to the media, Chirala rural police CI B Prasad informed that local TDP leaders were trying to hold a meeting with locals after Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan quit the TDP to join the YSRCP. The CI said that a tiff ensued between the locals and Paleti Ramarao after the Chirala locals questioned him why he never visited them in the past. Paleti and his followers got into a fight with the locals and some of Paleti’s followers beat for locals and severely injured them.

“The police have booked a case against Paleti Ramarao and his supporters for inciting riots and disturbing the peace and arrested four of them,” CI B Prasad told the media. The injured locals were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

However, on Wednesday (today) when Paleti Ramaro and his close aide Sajja Venkateshwarlu came to visit the supporters who were arrested, the police announced that they would be arresting Paleti as well in the same case. Paleti and his aide Sajja were also arrested by the Chirala CI for inciting violence.

According to reports, MLC and TDP Women wing president Pothula Suneetha has visited Ramarao in the police station and enquired about the cases filed against him.

The TDP leader Paleti has alleged that the Chirala police have arrested him and his men in favour of MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan. Ramarao also alleged that the police were not arresting MLA Amanchi even though he has several warrants pending against him.

Meanwhile, CI Prasad told the media that the police department in Chirala would not allow anyone to incite violence in the area. He also clarified that the police are not acting on the behalf of anyone and are doing their job in maintaining peace and law in Chirala.
