In a shocking development, the Enforcement Directorate, for the first time since 2013, mentioned YS Jagan's wife YS Bharathi as an accused in the YSRCP President's illegal investments case. Bharathi has been chargesheeted in the Raghuram (Bharathi) Cements case that was filed before the Special CBI court in Hyderabad.

In its chargesheet, the ED mentioned YS Bharathi as accused No. 5 along with YS Jagan, YSRCP's MP Vijaya Sai Reddy, Bharathi Cements Corporation's Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sandur Power Ltd., Silicon Builders, Classic Realty, Saraswati Power and Industries Pvt. Ltd and 10 others.

The ED had first registered the illegal investments case against YS Jagan and others based on a CBI chargesheet in the Raghuram Cements case in 2013. In 2016, the ED attached the properties and fixed deposits worth Rs 750 crore of Jagan and other accused in the name of Ms Bharati Reddy under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED stated that the funds were routed into Raghuram (Bharathi) Cements through Sandur Power, Caramel Asia Ltd. and other companies through Hawala payments.Meanwhile, Jagan took to Twitter and said, "Shocked to see the reports by select media today, where my wife was named as accused by ED. Saddened to see politics degraded to such levels where even family is not spared."
