Amaravati : Parliament Winter Session that is going to be held from December 15, Opposition YSR Congress Party is going to take up the issue of granting Special Category Status (SCS) to the successor state of Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP MPs are instructed to raise the issue seriously in the coming Lok Sabha session.
The decision was taken by YSRCP president and Opposition leader YS Jagan during his meeting with the party's top leaders in Anantapur. Jagan has given guidelines to YSRCP MPs on the party's stand in the Parliament.
YSRCP MPs are expected to raise the issue of Special Categiry Status to AP as promised by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then Opposition BJP which is now in the power at the Centre.
Apart from the Special Category Status, YSRCP also plans to bring up a discussion on the provisions of the Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill 2017 (FRDI Bill), the Polavaram Project, and defections in Parliament. V. Vijay Sai Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP and YSRCP general secretary, confirmed the development to media.
YSRCP is said to be very serious on issues such as Special Category Status, Polavaram Project, FRDI Bill, Defections.
Especially, YSRCP wants to intensify their voice against the defections (to the TDP) in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. It can be recalled that YSRCP has recently boycotted the winter Assembly session. Jagan had already written to the President of India in October stating that no action was taken by the Speaker and Chairman of the Assembly to disqualify the defected MLAs.
