Adulterated pickle making racket busted in Guntur

Tue, Sep 12 : Food safety officials raided a pickles manufacturing unit, and seized as many as 200 drums of decomposed pickles, made out of spoilt vegetables and adulterated ingredients.
The officials were shocked to see drums full of spoilt pickels of different varieties, in Kedar Pickles manufacturing unit at Guntur.
The samples will be sent for testing and stringent action will be initiated against the owners of the unit, they said. Not just adulterated ingredients, but also chemical preservatives were being used, in more proportion than that prescribed, leading for the pickles to acquire a rich colour. The same were being sold in the market, in packets.
