The TDP and the YSR Congress Party separately filed complaints against each other with the Election Commission of India in New Delhi on Monday.

A delegation of the TDP submitted a memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora seeking the Election Commission of India (ECI) intervention in Form 7, data theft and related issues.

The delegation comprising Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kaluva Srinivasulu, Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu, MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, former MP Kambhampati Rammohan Rao and others stressed on the need to prevent the political parties from engaging in unethical and undemocratic practices during the upcoming general elections.

Mr. Srinivasulu said they highlighted the misuse of Form 7 and deletion of names and the data theft. The ECI was urged to count the VVPAT slips during counting, he added. The TDP leaders said the YSRCP had sought to delete eligible voters’ names and include ineligible voters in the rolls.

These applications were made in bulk and online by a few individuals through impersonation, forgery and by giving false particulars/information to the authorities. In most cases, the applicants in whose names the forms were submitted were not even aware of them.

The ECI was requested to take stringent action against the culprits. An action under Sections 120-B, 177, 182, 192, 193, 468, 469, 471, 416 and 417 IPC, Sec. 66-C of I.T. Act and Sec. 31 of R.P. Act, 1950 could be initiated. It was also important that the Telangana police need to be instructed not to interfere in the affairs of Andhra Pradesh, they said.

Addressing the media after meeting the ECI, YSRCP leader Rajendranath Reddy alleged that the TDP had been systematically deleting the names of the party sympathisers from the voter list using the Seva Mitra App.He said 20 lakh names had been deleted which was conveyed to the ECI with evidence.
