Speaker launched bus rally for farmers to go Polavaram project

Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on Tuesday flagged off a bus rally, facilitating the farmers from the Sattenapalli and Narsaraopet Assembly constituencies to visit the Polavaram project site.Flagging off a convoy of 50 buses and 30 cars from the Gunta grounds, Dr. Rao said the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project was the lifeline of the people of the State, and the government was executing it in spite of many hurdles.

Farmers under the Nagarjuna Sagar Project Right Canal ayacut would be assured of water throughout the year as the flood waters of the Godavari would be used to pump water into the Krishna.

TDP leader Kodela Siva Ram and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu were present.District Collector Kona Sasidhar said the Pattiseema project was saving the standing crop in the Krishna Western Delta as the water outflow from the Nagarjuna Sagar Project had been dwindling.

On completion of the Polavaram project, the farmers could raise crops throughout the year, he said.

Dr. Sivaram, who mobilised the farmers from the two constituencies, said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s dream of making the State as the most prosperous destination would be realised only when the Polavaram project was completed.
