Swiggy forays into Andhra Pradesh, launches operations in Visakhapatnam

It has partnered with 200 restaurants across the city including popular eateries such as Sai Ram Parlour, Daspalla Group, Food Ex and Venkatadri Vantillu.

Online food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy has announced its expansion to Andhra Pradesh with the launch of its services in Visakhapatnam and has partnered with 200 restaurants across the city.

Vizag, along with Indore, joins the 15 cities in India that Swiggy’s ordering and delivery services is available in across the country and has doubled its footprint in seven months with operations in 17 cities.

Swiggy is currently available in areas like Akkayyapalem, Asilmetta, Balayya Sastri Layout, Dwaraka Nagar, Lawsons Bay, Maddilapalem, MVP Colony, Ram Nagar, Seethammadhara, Siripuram, Vuda Complex and Waltair Uplands, and will expand to more localities in the coming weeks.

As a launch offer, Swiggy is offering free deliveries for orders over Rs 99.

Popular eateries like Sai Ram Parlour, Daspalla Group, Food Ex and Venkatadri Vantillu, as well as national and international chains like Paradise Biryani, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC and Subway, will be available on the platform. Additionally, local favourites like Flying Spaghetti Monster, Santhosh Dhaba, The Thickshake Factory and Sweet India will now be available exclusively on Swiggy. 

“With Hyderabad being one of our strongest markets in India, this will be our second city in the Andhra- Telangana region,” said Srivats TS, Vice President – Marketing at Swiggy.

“Vizag is a thriving city with a diverse culinary culture, and we are really excited to finally bring Swiggy to the city. Even before our launch here, the Swiggy app witnessed thousands of downloads, highlighting the excitement people have for our services. We are sure that with offerings like lightning fast delivery and live order tracking, people in Vizag will enjoy the best of what the city has to offer, wherever they are,” he added.

Apart from Vizag, Swiggy also announced its entry into Madhya Pradesh with the launch of its services in Indore. It has tied up with more than 450 restaurants across Vizag and Indore.

To ensure consumers have access to the best restaurants in the cities, Swiggy will deliver from a wider radius of as much as 6 km. Consumers can track their orders live on the Swiggy app.

Swiggy said in a statement that it will provide city-restaurants with the tools and technology to reach new customers. Swiggy has also launched a revamped Owner app for restaurants. The app will allow restaurants to efficiently manage the thousands of orders they receive on Swiggy through real-time updates on their performance, consumer feedback, menu analysis and so on.
