‘Continue the fight for justice both in and outside Parliament’

Giving his party MPs a pat for exposing what he called the double standards of the BJP on the Special Category Status (SCS), Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday exhorted them to continue the fight both in Parliament and outside and dismissed the allegation that he compromised on the SCS as false propaganda.

In a teleconference with the MPs, Mr. Naidu said the TDP could muster the support of all parties and that by moving the no-confidence motion had brought the BJP’s reneging on its commitments into sharp focus at the national level.

Conveying his thanks to the parties which threw their weight behind the TDP’s fight for justice, Mr. Naidu said they were convinced that there was substance in the State government’s arguments on the SCS and the implementation of Reorganisation Act. He called for maintaining the tempo in the movement for the SCS and told the MPs not to lose any opportunity to highlight the plight of A.P. irrespective of the deceptive politics being played by the BJP. He suggested to MPs to stage protests at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Parliament premises and at the offices of various Ministries and departments to mount pressure on the BJP-led dispensation.

Mr. Naidu said the manner in which Jayadev Galla, Kesineni Srinivas, Y.S. Chowdary, C.M. Ramesh and K. Rammohan Naidu espoused the cause of A.P. had impressed everyone and that the MPs should try to repose the confidence of parties which sympathised with A.P.’s struggle for justice.

He said Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao and other BJP leaders were spreading falsehood on the extent to which the Central government had actually kept its promises.

Dig at Jagan

He criticised Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for working at cross purposes on matters concerning the State.
