Senior YSR Congress Party leaders Botcha Satyanarayana and Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Wednesday said that the Telugu Desam Party had betrayed the backward classes in the State and it had no moral right claim their support in the next general elections.

For the first time, the YSRCP organised ‘BC Garjana’ at Rajam falling under the Vizianagaram parliamentary, spread across both the districts.Hundreds of party workers from Etcherla, Rajam of Srikakulam district and Bobbili, Cheepurupalli of Vizianagaram district attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyanarayana promised that the party would come out with an exclusive policy to benefit the most backward classes as their economic condition continued to be precarious.“The TDP always tries to project itself as a champion of the BCs. It comes with out many declarations and detailed manifestos, but ignores their welfare as soon as it comes to power,” Mr. Satyanarayana alleged.Mr. Karunakar Reddy said that the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy government had paid special attention to the welfare of the BCs and introduced many schemes, including fee reimbursement.

Rajam MLA Kambala Jogulu expressed concern over the poor economic condition of many communities, including Devangulu, Augurulu, Viswa Brahamanulu and Nai Brahamanulu, Chakali and fishermen, in the State. YSRCP Vizianagaram wing political coordinator Majji Srinivasa Rao said a detailed report would be submitted to party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, detailing the pathetic condition of castes whose presence is limited to Vizianagaram district.

Former MLAs Sambangi Chinavenkata Appala Naidu, Meesala Neelakantham Naidu, the party’s Etcherla in-charge Gorle Kiran Kumar, former chairman of the Srikakulam District Cooperative Central Bank SV Ramana and others outlined the grievances of backward sections in their respective constituencies.
