Water level in Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada has risen to full capacity

Water level in Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada has risen to full capacity, following inflows from Pattiseema and the overflowing Krishna river.
Incessant rains have caused the river to flood. In case the water level rises further, four gates of the barrage will be lifted and the water will be released downwards. Presently, some 8,000 cusecs of water is being released from the barrage daily, through the varioius canals. The flow will increase if the water level rises further and gates are opened, officials said.
