Scrapping of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), allocation of house sites and houses coupled with timely payment of dearness allowance are the promises made to government employees by Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on the 209th day of his ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ in East Godavari district on Monday.

Addressing a public meeting at Rayavaram, Mr. Jagan made it clear that the CPS would be replaced with the old pension system once the YSR Congress Party was voted to power in the coming general elections.

“The present government failed on all fronts and not even fulfilled at least 10% of poll promises,” he said, while calling upon the public not to cast their vote to the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

“Let them show us a single department where there is no corruption. Even the costs of sand are skyrocketing and the common man is forced to pay anything between ?7,000 and ?12,000 to buy a truck of sand. The free policy is being implemented only for the ruling party leaders,” he said.

“The government utterly failed in farm loan waiver and there is no mention about the waiver of loans taken by the members of women’s self-help groups. Now, the Chief Minister is unfolding a new drama that 98% of the poll promises are fulfilled and everyone in the State is happy and satisfied,” Mr. Jagan said.
