We are willing to work with A.P. government, says AIIB chief

Participating in the World Cities Summit Mayors’ Forum (WCSMF) being held in Singapore on Sunday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu showcased Andhra Pradesh as investors’ destination.

Mr. Naidu’s began his three-day visit to Singapore with a meeting with Minister of National Development Lawrence Wong, who said Singapore was extremely selective in choosing their country-to-country collaborations.

‘People’s capital’

“The only partnership we have in India is with Andhra Pradesh,” he said. The upcoming greenfield city Amaravati would provide a golden opportunity for well-planned growth, he said. Stating that construction of Amaravati was inclusive of all sections of society, Mr. Naidu said: “It is a people’s capital. We are still overcoming the disadvantages of bifurcation.”

Responding positively to Mr. Naidu’s request to help in capacity funding, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Director-General of Investment Operations Pang Yee Ean asked the project details be sent to them. “We are willing to work with the State government to develop roads, water supply, irrigation, electricity and more,” he said. Lodha Group Managing Director and CEO Abhishek Mangal Prabhat Lodha told the Chief Minister that his group was interested in investing in malls and open space entertainment and was planning to visit Amaravati this quarter.
