State Environment and Forest Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Monday made it clear that stern action would be taken against corrupt officials.

Speaking after inaugurating a 1.20 crore building of the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) here, he said officers would also be held accountable for corrupt practices by staff under them.He exhorted the public to reach out to the ACB through toll-free number 1064 or send messages through email, twitter, WhatsApp or Facebook to the ACB Director-General.

Going forward, the ACB would go ahead with confiscation of ill-gotten wealth of all convicted officers by invoking the provisions of the Special Court Act, ACB Director- General R.P. Thakur said, adding that this stringent piece of legislation would act as a deterrent to those amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income .Efforts were being made to improve the conviction rate, he said, adding that the State stood in the third position in curbing corruption as per study conducted by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) as against 19th position in the previous year.

The ACB would come out with recommendations after identifying loopholes to reduce the potential for graft.
