Paramedical and rural medical practitioners staged a demonstration in front of Prakasam Bhavan here on Thursday, in protest against ‘inordinate delay’ in implementing the Government Order promulgated to utilise their services after training, in rural areas.

PMPs and RMPs came in a procession to the Church centre and formed a massive human chain and raised slogans demanding that the government recognise the yeoman services rendered by them at remote places usually kept away by doctors. It was unfortunate that the government buckled under pressure from doctors and dilly-dallied on giving effect to G.O. 465, said PMP and RMP Association Prakasam District President D. Singhiah.

Over a period, they had gained expertise in attending to emergency medical cases in remote villages inhabited by tribals and others, before shifting them to a nearest hospital in a city or town, acting as a bridge between the patients and doctors, added its district Secretary Malakondaiah.Their services could be better utilised and streamlined by providing recognition and training, they lamented.
