SAAP has released a budget of 5 lakh

Grand Master Amonatov Farrukh from Tajikistan is here to impart knowledge to the budding International Masters from the State, as a training session organised by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) and A.P. Chess Association began at a private hotel here on Monday.

Mr. Farrukh, who recently won the Mayor Cup held in Mumbai, would train the chess players in thinking and planing their moves. The camp would be held for six hours every day.

Special Chief Secretary L.V. Subramaniyam inaugurated the week-long training camp.He even took on the grand master by playing a few moves.Mr. Subramaniyam said that there were 10 International Masters and 76,000 registered chess players in the State. Chess has emerged as a popular sport in the country and many more students are taking up the game, he said.

Selected players from the camp would take part in tournaments in Europe. SAAP has released a budget of ?5 lakh for the camp.
