Stating that the people of six States had equal rights on the waters of the river Godavari and at the same time they should not forget about their equal responsibility of protecting the water body, ‘Waterman of India’ Rajendra Singh on Sunday called upon the people residing along the coast to build ‘Godavari family’ so that the rich cultural heritage of the river could be passed on to the next generations.

Addressing the valedictory of the two-day ‘National Convention on Godavari’ organised by Adikavi Nannaya University here, Mr. Singh highlighted the need for undertaking scientific research on the river that became the lifeline of people of six States. “Protecting the Godavari is the need of the hour, for which there is an immediate need to unite the people of all the six States and create awareness among them about the importance of this river,” he said.

Addepalli Sridhar presided over the session, in which scientists, officials and representatives of NGOs from different States participated.
