N. Chinarajappa Comments On Polavaram Project

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa on Wednesday made it clear that the Polavaram irrigation project would be completed by the next year at any cost.

He said the State government was giving utmost priority to the completion of pending irrigation projects and making more and more extents of barren lands cultivable.

Addressing the ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ programme at the Railway Kalyana Mandapam at Samalkot, Mr. Chinarajappa said that a sum of 55,000 crore was spent on irrigation projects so far including 1,600 crore on Purushottamapatnam lift irrigation scheme in East Godavari district. “Interlinking of rivers is the dream of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the government is chalking out plans to make it a reality. Overall development and welfare of all sections are the main objectives of the government,” he said, while calling upon the public to continue to extend their support to the Telugu Desam Party.

Collector Kartikeya Misra said that works worth 650 crore were undertaken under the MNREGS in the district in the last one year and infrastructure development was given top priority.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Chinarajappa inaugurated a two-day cricket match on the junior college premises.Officials and local elected representatives participated in the programme.
