Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said that it takes decades to construct city like Hyderabad which requires around Rs. 5 lakh Cr.

He pointed out that the Centre failed to provide enough funds to the state for development after bifurcation. He addressed Nava Nirmana Deeksha in the city on Saturday and said normally assets and liabilities of the family would be distributed equally to the heirs and it was not followed in case of State bifurcation. Ignoring Chandrababu Naidu’s plea to allocate adequate funds for construction of capital city, the previous Congress government had bifurcated the State without considering the future difficulties, the Minister said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured to extend full support to Andhra Pradesh during his election rally in 2014 in Tirupati, but he failed to keep his promise, Narayana regretted. The Centre failed to sanction Dugarajapatnam Port, separate railway zone, metro rail projects and steel plant at Kadapa. While it was estimated that a minimum sum of Rs 48,000 crore would be required for capital construction, the BJP-led NDA government so far sanctioned only Rs 1,600 crore, he pointed out.

District Collector R Mutyala Raju, Mayor Aziz, NUDA Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy, T Anuradha, Hospital Development Committee Chairman Ch Narasimha Rao, corporator Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam and others were present at the meeting. Cultural programmes were organised by Dornala Haribabu and team.

Further, the Minister said they were developing Juvvaladinne village, birth place of Amarajeevi Pottisriramulu, as a tourism spot and a model village.  He informed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would inspect the works at Juvvaladinne during his visit to Nellore district on June 8.

The Minister interacted with some residents of Janardhan Reddy Colony whose applications for houses had been rejected by the authorities.  He assured them that a team of officials would inspect and collect technical details from those whose applications have been rejected under the housing scheme.  Narayana said tenders would be invited for development of Swarnala Cheruvu. The Minister, later held a review meeting with district officials at his camp office in Chintareddypalem.  Speaking at the meeting, Narayana said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be addressing a public meeting in Nellore on June 8.
