Protest Against Anna Canteen Site

The VUDA Colony residents are opposing the TDP's Anna Canteen building, which was constructed by the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation, as the construction site which was shown by Visakha Urban Development Authorities has the double road in the colony and sold the layouts to the residents. 

Whereas, now the local bodies constructing buildings on the same road. The residents of the colony staged a dharna here on Saturday at Gajuwaka area.

The residents said that they had staged the dharna against the local MLA Palla Srinnivas Rao as he was forcing the GVMC officials to construct the Anna Canteen building even after the court has given the stay order for the construction on the clause of such buildings were not allowed to be constructed at residential areas. 

The residents also said that they are not opposing the concept of providing food at a cheaper price to the daily labourers and the poor, but they are urging the local bodies and town planning administration to relocate the Anna Canteen elsewhere except at VUDA Colony. 

Some of the residents also alleged that the town planning is giving permissions for illegal constructions in private lands at Gajuwaka area. The residents raised slogans against MLA Palla Srinivas during the dhrana.
