Water released from Srisailam dam

Srisailam: Following the directions issued by Krishna River Board, 29 TMCof water was released from Srisailam dam through two reversible sluice gates on Thursday to quench the thirst of people of Telugu states. The water is being discharged from the dam lifting the two dam gates to a height of 15 feet.  According to superintending engineer Mallikarjuna Reddy, daily 13000 cusecs (7 TMC) of water is being released. The water will be discharged till the water level in the dam reached 785 feet from the existing 800.5 feet. 


Last year, the water was discharged from the dam to meet drinking water needs of people of Telugu states on April 3. The superintending engineer said that it was unfortunate that people and farmers have been alleging injustice to the upper Rayalaseema region. He said the full reservoir level of the dam is 885 feet with a total storage capacity of 215 tmc.
