Thermal Power Plant in Kadapa has attained commercial operation

The State has registered an 84% increase in installed capacity from 9,529 MW in 2014-15 to 17,520 MW in 2017-18 and chalked out plans to further increase the capacity by 2,560 MW by 2022, Principal Secretary, Energy and Infrastructure Ajay Jain and Chairman and Managing Director of APSPDCL M.M. Nayak said on Monday.

In the wake of an anticipated load growth in the State and in Amaravati, the capacity augmentation by 2022 was proposed through NTTPS Stage V (1 X 800 MW) at Vijayawada, SDSTPS Stage II (1 X 800 MW) in Nellore, Polavaram Hydro-Electric Project (12X80 MW), which were being constructed at a total expenditure of around 15,000 crore, they told the media here.

The Stage IV of the 600 MW Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant in Kadapa has attained commercial operation on March 28.A.P.was the first State to award a tender for installation of electric vehicles’ charging infrastructure across the State, they stated.

The 1,000 MW massive solar park in Kurnool district made a mark in the world solar map and the government was setting up an airport at Orvakal, Mr. Jain said, while inspecting the airport site. Works were progressing briskly and the airport would reach operation stage soon, he said.
