Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked industrialists and workers to recall the crisis in the industry before 2014 and compare it with the development during the last four years.

“There were power outages, curbs on use of power by the industry. Many workers lost their jobs due to lockouts during 10 years. Industry should remember the penalties levied for using power more than prescribed limits. Also, there is no labour unrest,” he said addressing the May Day celebrations organised by the Labour department here.

Stressing on cordial relations between the managements and the workforce, Mr. Naidu said both the industry and the workers would benefit if they worked in tandem. It would also push up the development in the State and its GSDP. Labour unrest would portray the State in bad light.

Suggesting the managements to recognise the individuality and self-respect of the workers, he assured that the government would extend all possible help to the industrialists. In the same breath, Mr. Naidu told the workers to realise that the unions and the leaders alone would benefit from the labour unrest. Both the industry and the workers were dependent on each other. Empowerment of labour and imparting skills to them would boost productivity, which ultimately would lead to industrial peace.

Mr. Naidu appealed to industrialists to provide housing for workers. The government was ready to allot land and asked the officials to prepare an action plan to implement the scheme from this year.

The government spent nearly ?1,140 crore towards the Chandranna Bima scheme to provide financial assistance to the family members of deceased employee. AP stood first in the ease of doing business and with the prevailing industry-friendly atmosphere several industrialists were coming forward to invest. In the past three partnerships summits 2,785 MoUs worth ?16 lakh crore were signed and 1,496 MoUs were at an advanced stage, he said. The Chief Minister presented awards to industrialists and Shram Shakti awards to workers. Labour Minister Pithani Satyanarayana and others were present.
