Social activist and writer Kancha Ilaiah on Sunday said corruption had been institutionalised during the BJP rule and accused it of targeting the banks directly for its failures.
Extending support for political parties and organisations agitating for the Special Category Status (SCS), Prof. Ilaiah said a new platform should be created with the ideas of Dr. Ambedkar, Jyotirao Phule and Karl Marx to protect the rights of the SCs, STs and the BCs and Amaravati should be developed into Boudha Nagar.
Participating in a meeting organised by the Dalit Bahujana Front here, he said during the Congress rule, corruption was at individual level but now it had reached the peak. How could the BJP amass the highest fund of about ?1,200 crore, he asked.
Saying sanyasis like Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath were unfit to rule, Prof. Ilaiah said the BJP was resorting to extortion from industrialists.
“If BJP comes to power in 2019 elections, it will try to make Hyderabad a Union Territory (UT) and the second capital, shift some offices to Hyderabad from Delhi and occupy the historic city.”
Expressing concern over what he called looting by the corporate educational institutions such as Narayana and Sri Chaitanya, Prof. Ilaiah demanded revision of the education system, abolition of intermediate and upgrade all schools up to 12th standard.
He appealed to the State government to introduce English medium in all government-run schools and make Telugu compulsory in all private schools.
He appreciated Mr. Naidu for quitting the NDA government and fighting for the SCS. Like T-Mass in Telangana (Telangana Mass Organisations Association), an A-Mass should be formed to protect the rights of the BCs, the SCs and the STs and the minorities, he said.
On the controversy over the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Prof Ilaiah demanded the AP government to take a decision like other States on the Supreme Court’s judgment.
Centre for Social Justice convenor Y. Koteswara Rao, Dalit Bahujan Front national secretary M. Bhagya Rao, BC International Welfare Association general secretary Nammi Appa Rao and other leaders participated.
