ADC has prepared Final Plan For Amaravathi Green and Blue City

The Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has prepared the action plan to turn the capital city Amaravati into a green and blue city of global standards with sustainability and liveability as its focal points.

The World Bank gave an in-principle approval for a loan of nearly ?1,485 crore for this project named Amaravati Green Development Project (AGDP). It is to be cleared by the Department of Economic Affairs, according to an official release.

It was stated that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wanted the ADC officials to ensure that the AGDP would help in the mitigation of floods and recharge of groundwater levels besides reducing the heat.


The quality of living could be enhanced through proper landscaping, better air quality and improving the micro-climate.

ADC Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmi Pardhasaradhi told the CM that the capital city was spread over 53,620 acres, of which 15,990 acres of green and protected area was envisaged. The ADGP would cover 65 sq. km. of the capital city area of 217 sq. km.

The project comprises five major parks, landscaping for 25 km along the riverfront and 46 km along the canals of Kondaveetivaagu and Palavagu and the Undavalli hillock. Principal Secretary (CRDA) Ajay Jain said the seed access road was one of the first roads to be built in Amaravati and would connect the central business district. Due priority has been given for its greening.
