YSR Congress party Senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana speaks in a press conference in the party office on Sunday. He said it is time to show the power of teugu people to NDA government at the Centre in the final and the most crucial phase of the Special Category Status (SCS) battle. He said his party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had been agitating for the SCS for the last four years. Now that the fight was in its final stages, the party had moved a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government. “If the Modi government fails to respond to the no-trust move, the YSR CP MPs will resign and launch indefinite hunger strike in Delhi,” he said, urging every Telugu person to become part of the battle. He said to express solidarity with the protesting MPs, party leaders and cadre will organise relay hunger strikes in the 175 constituencies and also appealed to all sections to extend their support to the agitation.

He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of misleading people of the State on the SCS by saying special package was a “better deal”, Mr. Satyanarayana said and demanded that the cases booked against people who had fought for the SCS should be withdrawn immediately. Claiming good response to Mr. Jagan’s pada yatra for the SCS, he said when people began to understand its importance, the Chief Minister made a U-turn and joined the SCS chorus. He said Mr. Naidu should also ask his MPs to resign.

Party leader Kolusu Parthasaradhy alleged that Mr. Naidu had been visiting Delhi to change contractors but had never insisted on the SCS with the Centre. He said like Prime Minister Modi, Mr. Naidu had also been unfair to the people of Andhra Pradesh on the SCS. Party leader Malladi Vishnu took strong exception to the TDP leaders calling Mr. Jagan a “street rowdy”. He said in fact it was the TDP leadership that had given important posts to its leaders with criminal background.
