JAC Formed With Students And Youth For Special Category Status

Regarding the fight for the Special Category Status to AP the youth and students of various associations formed the JAC(Join Action Committee),on Wednesday to support SCS.Representatives of more than 25 associations including the State universities’ JACs, the political and the non-political youth associations vowed to fight for the cause. The youth wings of the Telugu Desam Party (TNSF) and the ABVP had, however, not joined it.


The JAC was announced following a discussion in the presence of Vibhajana Hamila Sadhana Samithi president Chalasani Srinivas, CPI leader K. Ramakrishna, CPI(M) leader Y. Venkateswara Rao and others here.


It would conduct the “Fools Candle Rally” on April 1 to convey to the Centre that it had made AP people fools in the name of the special package and other assurances in the past four years.It gave a call to the public to sport black ribbons on April 5 which would be observed as the protest day.


By April 15, district and mandal level JACs would be formed and the next course would be announced, said the JAC leaders.The JAC has no cadre as of now and will be coordinated by Democratic Youth Federation of India leader G. Surya Rao and All India Youth Federation leader Lenin Babu.


During the discussion, representatives of various associations flayed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not allowing them to fight for the SCS earlier. They proposed rail roko and protests at the Central government offices so that the pain of AP people was felt by the Centre.


The YSR Students Union, the National Students Union of India, the Jana Sena Students Union, the Loksatta youth wing, the Progressive Democratic Students Union, the SFI, the BC Yuvasena and others too were part of the JAC.
