Pamidi mandal headquarters turned out to be a big market for branded clothes and wholesale trading of textiles. Retailers from neighbouring states shop at Pamidi wholesale market for textile and garments. Pamidi is located about 32 kms from Anantapur towards Gooty. It is home to hundreds of families who have migrated from Maharashtra and who depend on trading in clothes and textiles and clothes making.

The town is well connected with roads and railways. National Highway No.44 passes through the city. Of the total population of 49,000, at least 40 per cent of the families are involved in clothes trading both readymade and textiles, of various brands. There are a number of textile shops in the town. There are around 140 to 150 textile showrooms in the main bazaar with around 50 garments showrooms offering stuff at very reasonable prices. Many cloth stores depend on selling branded cut pieces at affordable prices.

Pamidi town has continued the legacy of wholesale and retails cloth stores for many decades, Anil Kumar from Anantapur said. "We cannot compare the wholesale prices at Pamidi with any other market." The traders procure raw clothes from Surat, Erode, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. Many families have been settled on the profession even after their children completed higher educations.
