Eleven passengers of the Lucknow-bound Yeshvantpur Express were robbed of their cell phones and valuables after they were drugged by unidentified miscreants, in the early hours of Thursday.
Co-passengers in the train alerted the railway officials at Gudur Station in Nellore district after noticing them lay unconscious in their seats for a long duration.
All the 11 passengers, belonging to Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, were immediately shifted to a hospital in Gudur where they regained their consciousness and their conditions were improving.
Railway SI A. Balakrishna told The Hindu that some strangers had acquainted themselves with the unsuspecting passengers, who ate biscuits and drank cool drinks offered by them.
The passengers, stated to have taken the biscuits just half-an-hour after the train left Yeshvantpur, were reported safe and were being discharged from the hospital.
