Lawyers press for High Court at Tirupati

   Stressing the need for implementing an equitable development agenda across Andhra Pradesh, members of the Tirupati Bar Association staged a protest demanding that the State government set up the High Court in the temple city.

Highlighting their demands through slogans and banners, the lawyers took out a rally to the Tirupati Sub-Collector's office and handed over their representation.

Speaking to the media, Tirupati Bar Association vice-president V. Sreenivasulu maintained that concentrating the major developmental activities/works in the State’s capital, Amaravati, would create regional imbalances, affecting particularly the Rayalaseema region, and create a Hyderabad-like situation. “Instead of repeating the same mistake, State government should focus on decentralising the development and ensure a comprehensive growth of all departments and sectors,” he added.

The protesters also said that the lawyers across the Rayalaseema region had boycotted their duties for the past 37 days and said they would continue the same till their demands were met.
