The Andhra Pradesh IAS Officers’ Association has taken a very strong exception to the threats allegedly held out by YSRCP MP V. Vijaya Sai Reddy against a senior IAS officer. The association said it strongly condemned the MP’s action in naming and threatening vindictive action against Satish Chandra, Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister.

A statement which was signed by the association secretary, Shashi Bhushan Kumar, said : “Such threats of vindictive action against a civil servant is deplorable, and the association appeals to all political parties to desist from such irresponsible behaviour in demoralising civil service, which is entrusted with accomplishment of challenging tasks.”

The association said it placed on record Mr. Satish Chandra’s selfless service to the cause of the bifurcated State in building necessary environment to carry out administration from Amaravati. Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy has charged the senior IAS officer and a senior IPS officer, A B. Venkateswara Rao, with “turning Telugu Desam workers,” and “involving themselves in luring YSRCP MLAs to TDP,” and allegedly threatened that action would be taken against them when the YSRCP comes to power. He was speaking recently after submitting a representation to the Election Commission of India, urging it to hold the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections in Hyderabad and not in Amaravati as “the TDP is trying to lure more YSRCP MLAs to its side.”

The association also condemned the criminal assault by the MLAs of the Delhi Assembly on the Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government on Tuesday night.

“The assault on the CS is not only a criminal act but also an attack on the independence and neutrality of the civil service. The fact that it took place in the presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister makes it all the more reprehensible. This association affirms its total support to the Delhi IAS Association in its struggle for equity and fair play between permanent and political executive,” Mr. Kumar said in a separate statement.
