CPI national secretary K. Narayana on Wednesday criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the Left Parties and not considering their views on the Special Category Status (SCS) issue.

He said the CPI was committed to ensuring SCS for the State as the special package was only eyewash.

“Though the SCS issue is serious, Mr. Naidu did not invite the Left parties for talks or suggestions,” he said. Addressing a public meeting at PCR College Junction here, as part of the three-day ‘maha sabhalu,’ the CPI leader said Mr. Naidu had wasted four years of valuable time by not taking it up seriously. Squarely blaming Mr. Naidu, he said the inordinate delay in expressing the voice of the State had done much damage. Mr. Narayana observed that as the BJP was a non-entity in the State, with no prospects of improving its vote-bank, the NDA Government led by it at the Centre would naturally ignore the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh.

Special package

“Though the UPA Government had made several provisions during bifurcation, nothing tangible has been done so far. Even the special package is a farce. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should see the ground realities and consider implementing the A.P. Reorganisation Act,” Mr. Narayana said.
