Asserting his government’s commitment to completing the Polavaram project, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the Central government had given the green signal for the construction of the cofferdam that was necessary for releasing water through gravity.
Listing the achievements of the TDP government, he said interlinking of rivers was a milestone. After successfully linking the Godavari with the Krishna, the government had set its sight on linking the Krishna with the Penna, he added.
Mr. Naidu was addressing the villagers and people’s representatives at the gram sabha organised at Kodurupadu in Nellore rural limits as part of the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme.
Referring to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s observation on the need to develop the rural areas, Mr. Naidu said villages would witness transformation only when they had adequate water for irrigation and access to well-developed infrastructure and educational facilities.
